GF dramatically increases production capacity in China
GF Automotive, a division of Georg Fischer, is increasing its manufacturing footprint in China by 50 per cent.
At the end of 2014 the division completed the extension of its iron foundry in Kunshan for a capacity increase of 50 per cent. It is also building its fourth light metal facility in Suzhou to add up to 50 per cent more capacity in this plant by the end of 2015.With China becoming the largest car market in the world, the demand for car components remains very strong in the country, especially for lightweight solutions to reduce CO2 emissions.
The ongoing investments of GF Automotive, amounting to more than CHF 40 million, aim at addressing the growing demand for locally produced lightweight structure and powertrain components. With these new investments, more than 20 per cent of the turnover of GF Automotive will be realised in China.
GF Automotive is one of the leading automotive suppliers worldwide specialising in lightweight solutions for the automotive industry. It produces more than 600,000 tons of iron, aluminium and magnesium components at nine production plants in Germany, Austria and China.
